LI-AMPA Course Structure
No. This is a sequential program, where you will get access to 2 modules every week. Within 90 days you will have access to whole course material. We have designed the structure to make sure students donot skip the content and assignments for the sake of completing course quickly.
After this certification, you will be able to build actuarial models for insurance products and use it to project cashflows, calculate reserves, price the product, build financial statements & analyze the results.Infact, you will be able to build financial models for non-insurance products too.
180 days. Course is expected to take approximately 250 hours for completion, so we have allotted enough time for you to go through the course with flexibility.
Its flexible as per your schedule. However, consistently spending average 3-4 hours per week would make it possible to go through course smoothly.

No. Although this course focuses on Life Insurance Products, but most of the actuarial concepts and methods remain the same across different lines of business. At this point, understanding the core actuarial work is more important that the actual calculations because that can be easily adapted.

No problem. You can use any open source alternative of Excel. Some of them are WPS Office, Libre Office, Google Sheets, Apache OpenOffice or Microsoft Office Excel Online.
Absolutely yes. Its correct that most large companies use licensed software. But, excel model is still widely used as independent checking & reviewing tool. Once you understand the implementation of actuarial concepts in excel model, its just a matter of knowing the software navigation in specialized softwares.
